A free, staged reading of John Milton‘s epic poem, “Paradise Lost,” will take place from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday in the sanctuary of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 111 N.E. 80th St.

Readers of the 17th-century epic will include professional actors from Seattle, college authorities on the poem, plus Barry Foy, a Seattle poet who is Milton’s great-great-great grandson.

Organizer Ned Hayes, a Milton scholar and enthusiast, says the event is believed to be the first such Milton reading in the world for a public audience. It will conclude with a potluck with such themed treats as deviled eggs, angel food cake and apples in various guises.
